Electrolysis
is a way of removing individual hairs from the face or body. Today's
medical electrolysis devices, called epilators, destroy the growth
center of the hair with a short-wave radio frequency. A very fine probe
is inserted into the hair follicle at the surface of the skin. The hair
is then removed harmlessly with forceps.
Although laser hair removal can be said to offer “permanent hair
reduction,” electrolysis has been proven to permanently remove
hair, follicle by follicle. Electrolysis treatments are a form of
electrical epilation where a needle is inserted into the hair follicle
and literally applies a zap of electrical current to the area.
Electrolysis offers permanent results for people who are otherwise not
a candidate for laser hair removal (i.e. people with extremely dark
skin, or someone who has red, blonde or gray hair)..

How dose
Electrolysis work? ^

A licenced electrologist inserts a fine metal probe into the hair
follicle alongside your hair. Then the electrologist steps on a pedal
that sends a mild electrical current (heat) to the base of the follicle
to destroy the root of the hair. This takes a second. After hair is
treated it is released by the heat and the electrologist removes the
hair with her forceps and moves on to another hair.
Is
Electrolysis Painful? ^
top
Giving Birth is painful. Boob job, painful. Getting stubborn blackheads
extracted from nose during facial little more tolerable but painful. If
you can do or have done any of those you can easily tolerate
Electrolysis. Discomfort always depends on patient's tolerance but
during treatment there is a definite sensation that should be noticed.
Certain areas of the body are also a little more sensitive than others.
Whatever the case, once the hair is gone, I promise you will forget all
the discomfort you ever went through and will start loving the new you!
Keep in mind, Electrologist's have been trained to work within your
comfort tolerance. NEVER hesitate to express yourself and how you feel.
Is Electrolysis Permanent? ^ top
Yes. It is the only method approved by the FDA as being Permanent for
Hair Removal. Its permanency has been well recognized by knowledgeable
physicians and is also testified to by thousands of scientific articles
published in medical literature. There are also millions of people
around the world who have benefit from this amazing procedure. Me being
one of them!
Is there
any other method of hair removal that works just as well? ^ top
No. There is ABSOLUTELY no reputable scientific evidence that shows any
other method of hair removal being as safe, effective and permanent as
Electrolysis. Not even Laser.
Are there
any side effects caused by Electrolysis? ^ top
Electrolysis has been preformed for over 125 years and has been proven
to be an extremely safe procedure. Electrolysis like many minor
procedures in medicine, dose have a short healing phase. During this
time, there may be some transient redness or swelling and occasionally
some pinpoint scabbing. As your Electrologist, we will discuss what is
to be expected after treatment and I will advise you to take certain
steps for faster healing.
How long
dose it take to achieve Permanency? ^ top
Electrolysis requires a series of treatments given over a period of
time. The length of time varies from person to person and is dependent
on many factors. The density and coarseness of the hair, as well as the
total area to be treated are factors. How well you tolerate treatments
and the consistency of the treatments affect the overall success. What
temporary methods used previously to treatment are also factors
considered. These are all thing we go over during a consultation and
will discuss and create a plan that is custom to you. Many hairs will
be permanently removed after the first treatment while some will
require additional treatments to achieve permanency. Treatments will be
more frequent in the beginning and less frequent later on. The overall
results, permanent, hair-free skin are usually well worth the time
spent.
Is
Electrolysis Expensive? ^ top
Considering the intense physical effort required of an Electrologist,
skill and training, as well as the equipment, office space, insurance,
etc., the fees charged by electrologists are thought, by most, to be
reasonable. When compared to the prices of other health and beauty-care
services and the cost of dealing with excessive hair using temporary
means, electrolysis is very affordable. Remember, the problem is being
dealt with PERMANENTLY and not just on a short term basis.
